In 2026, Italy stands at the center of the international stage with the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics. An event that has turned the spotlight on a territory shaped by sport, nature, and passion, suspended between ice and rock. At the same time, it invites us to reflect on the mountain landscape, its history, and its ongoing transformations.
In this context the exhibition ‘CALAMITA/À. Past, present, future’ shows the results of CALAMITA/À, the eleven-year multidisciplinary artistic research project curated by Gianpaolo Arena and Marina Caneve, originating from the tragedy of the Vajont disaster of 9th October 1963.
CALAMITA/À is an investigation that intertwines memory and contemporaneity, confronting us with an urgent question: how can we see the catastrophe that is approaching? The exhibition brings together photographic works, texts, music and reflections on the relationship between humans, nature, and power, questioning the fate of mountain territories between past and future.
