Hill, Uzzano (Lucca) Italy, 1st October – 12th October 2024
A place is never static. It is not an unchanging space, rather an environment that unfolds anew with every change in light, weather and time. Our perception of a place depends not only on its physical characteristics, but also on the conditions that surround it – and on ourselves, our experiences, memories and expectations. A place does not simply exist, it is experienced. A foggy morning can render a familiar landscape unidentifiable, while bright sunshine breaks the same scene down into clear forms. At dusk, boundaries become transparent, while the wind reveals movement. Every glance, every moment allows the place to emerge anew.
This photographic series reveals how influences constantly reinterpret a place. The lighting conditions, the atmospheric conditions and our own perspective shape how we perceive and understand it.

By presenting the photographs as loose individual images in a portfolio, this changeability is conveyed. Viewers are not bound to a specific order – they can decide for themselves how the place unfolds for them. The series thus becomes an open composition that can be rearranged and reinterpreted again and again.

About the 6 x 9 series: "6 x 9 | 12 Small Photos — is an ongoing (collectible) format in which photographs and accompanying texts are published. Each limited edition contains 12 small photos in 6 x 9 cm format and an accompanying text. Each edition presents an exclusive series by one author. The format highlights the publisher's intersections of art, design, photography and books. This is expressed in images and words, individual and collaborative work, thought and (re)presentation. 6 x 9 | 12 Small Photos — uses an old format that was sold for a few pennies as a souvenir in tourist hotspots."
